Happy Birthday, Jaini! As Jaini's birthday has already passed, so has Thursday, but time seems to be doing that to me lately. As I count down the last 6 months in Bolivia, I can't believe how quickly time has passed, how much I have learned and how much more I still have to learn, and how my dear friends have stuck beside me through it all, even when my presence is less than visible. Jaini is truly one of these great friends. But that's actually one of the reasons that Jaini and I are friends...she is extremely good at keeping in touch with people! When our circle of friends is remiss in seeing each other, it is always Jaini who connects us back together. Jaini is also the kind of friend who not only remembers our birthdays, but who goes out of her way to make sure our birthdays are extra special. I cannot think of how many times I have been with Jaini when she has ordered or picked up a cake that was someone's favorite flavor, or how many times I have received "the perfect gift" from her. Above all, Jaini is thoughtful. No matter how many important items she is juggling in her life, and there are always many, Jaini makes a point of reaching out during her friends' important life events. When you throw a dinner party, she is there to help wash the dishes before you even realize what she is doing, and this is after she has had meaningful conversations with all of the guests. When a significant date in your life occurs, Jaini remembers even if you almost forget. And finally, she just has a way of knowing when you need her. Jaini is sophisticated but down to earth, beautiful and charming but knows how to laugh at herself, and is always enjoyable to be around...whether we are having a serious conversation or being just plain silly. Jaini is a keeper...the kind of friend that you don't know what you have done to be blessed to receive, but that you hold onto for dear life as you look forward to what's next to come with her by your side!
