On this Holy Thursday, I would like to give thanks to the one who gives us life and puts light to the darkness. To the one who gives sight to the blind, rest to the weary, and hope to the hopeless. Every time I think about how great I am, I think about how Jesus died for us on the cross and realize that I am nothing.
I listened to a homily once that took my breath away, and I am going to try to see if I can do it justice here. The priest was from Africa, and he was talking about how Jesus is like a mighty lion. He seeks out his cubs, offers them shelter and rest, and does it all without looking to see if they will follow him first. Just when we think that that is enough, he pours out his blood for them to drink and rips open his flesh for them to eat. He sacrifices himself so that they may live, and he does so without waiting to see if they will love him, listen to him, or if they will appreciate the price that he has paid. When we are consumed with our problems, caught up in self-control, or thinking that there is no one who will love us because of what we have done, we need only to look to the cross. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9ICt1FFTwo
