At the tips of its branches, flowers bloom in springtime. Its roots are firmly planted in the earth, and drink from the water that gives it life. Its trunk stands upright, ready to weather any storm and protect against any adversary. It reaches out to those who live in its environment, offering support to all who seek refuge in its shelter. It looks up, sending a song to the heavens of praise and thanksgiving. It stays planted exactly where it was meant to be, focused on the beauty of all that surrounds it. I love all whom I encounter because I know that we are all part of the greater whole, and when we love one another we are honoring God. Anything is possible if a person believes. Mark 9:23 V is for Visualizations I visualize a winding river. As we move through life, sometimes we feel like we are on the top of a mighty boat and at other times we are on a canoe and have lost our paddles. Sometimes we are free falling like a waterfall, and other times we are swimming calmly through the stream. Sometimes we are sticking in our toes, wading, jumping in little by little, and other times we are swimming full speed ahead. Sometimes we reach for a life preserver, and at other times we are called to be the life preserver for another. When we are blessed with the peace of mind to be the warm rain for another, may we too wash away all our tears in the healing water. I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. The Lord has shone His light upon me, and He lifts me up to do great things. 2) I am enough. I am beautifully created in His name, and He gives me the strength to do what He calls me to do. 3) I am wise. When I feel as if I have nothing to give, the Lord bestows His wisdom upon me. 4) I am called. He has sought me out for a purpose, and I will succeed when I am listening to the still, small voice. 5) I am happy. I carry the joy of the Lord in my heart, and so I am happy day by day. 6) I am rejuvenated. All that the Lord calls me to do renews me, grows me, and changes me in ways that allow me to move mountains in His mighty and powerful name. Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Romans 12:2 V is for Visualizations I visualize a mighty river. On its banks are supporters, cheering us on. Our race is long and windy, but we are not alone. As we paddle, we pick up momentum. Every wave we encounter has the potential to lift us up or pull us down, so we work together as a team to discern our next move. When we come upon a stream of abundant water, we drink. When the earth bestows its wild berries and honey to us, we eat. When the night has adorned the sky with its last precious star, we rest. We follow the rhythm of life, and life smiles upon us in mercy and grace. We send up a prayer of praise and thanksgiving to the One who has made all things new and will continue to show us the way. God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God. Life S.A.V.E.R.S Program S is for Silence (Time spent in silent reflection) A is for Affirmations 1) I am courageous. I take the bull by the horns, and rise up to meet the challenge. 2) I am different. I march to the beat of my own drum, and I invite others to join my band. 3) I am forward thinking. I see what lies in front of us, and I run ahead to change it for the better. 4) I am adaptive. When things go differently than I think they will, I am able to roll with the punches. 5) I am rooted. My legs are like tree trunks and my feet are the roots, so I don't sway easily because I am firmly planted. 6) I am open to hearing from all, in a constant search of peace and understanding. He made us, and we are His. We are His people, the sheep of His pasture. Psalms 100:3 V is for Visualizations I visualize a strong and mighty warrior. As this warrior fights through battles, armies, and storms, there is always the sense of something more. The warrior learns through scars and wars that the biggest battles lie inside. As strong as the warrior becomes physically, the wounds of emotions unspoken and hurts unsoothed gape and plead for resolution. The warrior knows that to heal oneself requires healing another, and that this healing may need to be revisited from time to time. Consoled by the knowledge that moving forward is possible, and that the road need not be traveled alone, the warrior runs forward into the horizon with a heart ablaze with love. Give your burdens to the LORD, and He will take care of you. Life S.A.V.E.R.S Program S is for Silence (Time spent in silent reflection) A is for Affirmations 1) I may wander, but I will always find my way back home. 2) I will love without abandon every day of my life. 3) I will listen to the still, small voice of God in my life. 4) I will pray unceasingly, laugh out loud, and pitch in when I have an opportunity to make a difference. 5) I will be a friend to all, near and far, and they will know that I am open and ready to listen. 6) I will reach out to those who cannot reach out to me, and I will be the bridge of reconciliation and trust. 7) I will practice meditation, exercise, and treat my body as a temple so I am ready for anything. 8) I will be inclusive and I will include myself in the mix. "I know the plans I have for you, " says the LORD. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11 V is for Visualizations I visualize a great and mighty river. As I wind through its curves, I will always remember that it is capable of giving and taking life, and so I will respect its wonder. Swimming with its currents, I can produce great things, but swimming against, I will just end up exhausted and afraid of never making a difference. I will learn to swim within its currents. However, I will begin to etch out new paths, staying ever faithful to my beliefs and the truths that I hear in my heart. I will listen first to others and seek to understand before offering my opinion. When we talk, it will be a two-way exchange where both are allowed to float on our backs as we share our stories without a care in the world. Be strong and courageous! For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go. Life S.A.V.E.R.S Program S is for Silence (Time spent in silent reflection) A is for Affirmations I am forgiven. I can do some pretty ugly things, but at the end of the day, I know that I am forgiven if I call out His name in the wilderness. As a father, He comforts us and gives us repose. He leads us on the right path and shows us that we are enough. He helps us believe in ourselves when we believe there is nothing else to give. He shines the light upon us, guiding our steps and lending a hand to lift us up out of the darkness. He shows us that there is always hope, always caring, and always love. He is eternally patient and the source of all peace and tranquility. He provides us with opportunities to heal ourselves, thereby healing others. When we are ready to run, He opens His arms so that we may run into them. Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are Mine. When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. Isaah 43:1-2 V is for Visualizations I visualize a calming and tranquil meadow. In the meadow, birds sing love songs to each other in sweet melodies. Trees droop their branches to allow squirrels to hop from one canopy to the next, offering shade to the land. All feel safe and comforted by the cool breeze that melds with the warm sun to offer a paradise that provides only a glimpse of heaven to come. Flowers bloom and their fragrance becomes the perfume of the wind. In the air is the taste of rebirth and the joy of a new season. Walking through this soothing path reminds us that we are His, and that we may all start again. Be still, and know that I am God. I can see how beautiful the journey of peace and love will be, and so I am hopeful. 7) I am joyful. I feel the joy of healing another in my soul, and it feels like unending joy. LORD my God, I cried to you for help, and You restored my health. Psalms 30:2 V is for Visualizations I visualize a great and mighty mountain. Its peaks are plentiful and abundant, and its valleys offer comfort and refuge. Along the way, butterflies dance in the sky and the flowers sing in the wind. Plants offer food and streams have soothing water to drink. Animals run and open up new paths before our eyes and all that we pass are smiling. Rivers offer life to the plants and the plants grow tall and strong. Worms plow the ground to make it fertile and ready for new harvest, and spiders draw beautiful labyrinths upon the flowers. Bees buzz and carry their nectar from tree to tree, making sweet the path of what is yet to come. Walking through this forest of life and abundance, we are filled with a new respect for nature and mother earth. Those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted. I am kind and gentle to those with whom I interact, as I know that we each have our struggles. 6) I am willing to wait for the still, small voice in my life. I yearn for that voice, and hope that when it comes I have the strength of character to follow where it leads. May the Lord of peace Himself give you His peace at all times and in every situation. 2 Thess 3:16 V is for Visualizations I visualize a strong and powerful leader. I visualize someone who is humble and righteous in her decisions, taking into account the voices of all and gently discerning the good path. I visualize one who is true to herself, thereby opening up the path to be true to others. I visualize a leader who laughs with, cries with, and talks with her companions. I visualize a leader who has the integrity to admit when she is wrong, and who earns the trust of others by first extending her trust to them. I visualize a leader who is compassionate, striving to hear the silent, and willing to go the extra distance to give a voice to the voiceless. I visualize a leader who gives an example of peace and asks for a strong commitment of peace from the youngest child to the wisest elder. Let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. Life S.A.V.E.R.S Program S is for Silence (Time spent in silent reflection) A is for Affirmations 1)I am held. He has His hands on my heart, and He is gently carressing it so that it flows more freely and is more open to the cares of my fellow man. 2) I am stirred. I am moved deep within me by the cry of the wounded and the victory of our savior. I am called to blend them into one. 3) I am uniquely who I am, there is no one else like me, and so I am called to do things that have been destined for me since the beginning of time. 4) I am given much grace. Our Lord gives us grace in abundance, so that we may have faith that we can heal others as we have been healed. 5) I am redeemed. When Jesus gave His life on the cross, He redeemed us all so that we may serve Him freely and lovingly. The Lord is my light and my salvation - so why should I be afraid? Psalms 27:1 V is for Visualizations I visualize a might current. The current carries each of us to where we need to be and it strengthens us for the journey. Holding on to the preservers that the Lord has gifted us in the form of friends, companions for our journey, and confidants, we can rise to the occasion and praise Him with our life. If only we open our eyes to the wonders that He has in store for us, and open our hearts to the faith that He has given us to believe in our strength as it comes from the Most High, we will be filled with every blessing as we carry out our purpose filled plan here on earth. I see wisdom and mercy in my brothers and sisters, and so I am filled with the hope to keep on trying and faith that can move mountains. The Lord is my strength and my song; He has given me victory. This is my God, and I will praise Him. Life S.A.V.E.R.S Program S is for Silence (Time spent in silent reflection) A is for Affirmations 1) I am loved. I know that I am loved in the smile of my grandmother and the whisper of a child. 2) I am cherished. He has made all things beautiful in His name. 3) I am forgiven. As I am forgiven, I will strive to forgive others. 4) I am patient. As many times as the bird flies across the sky, let me have patience for others. 5) I am called. Let me answer the call in the best way I can. 6) I am kind. As kindness is given to me, let me extend it ten fold. 7) I am filled with mercy. As I see the myriad examples of mercy in my life, let me also shine the face of mercy out to the earth. 8) I am humble. Let me always remember that our God is more powerful than our strongest talent, and that all gifts come from above. See how very much our Father loves us, for He calls us His children, and that is what we are! 1 John 3:1 V is for Visualizations I visualize a wise woman, looking back on her life with tenderness and mercy. I visualize this woman gently caressing her memories, folding them one into another like the batter in her favorite cake. I visualize happiness, joy, and contentment as the spatulas with which she mixes the batter. As she stirs, she is filled with whimsy at the thought of her younger days, riding horses bareback in the wind and smiling in the gentle breeze. I see her looking into the eyes of her grandchildren for the first time, holding them with the tenderness that she once held her own babies. I visualize her smiling with laughter in her eyes at the memories of a life well lived. Blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice.
